Some people do become completely seizure free using the ketogenic diet. Some people with seizures find out they have celiac / gluten sensitivity, and after a 100% removal of gluten from their diet, become completely seizure free. Some only have a moderate reduction. Everyone is different.

I'm sorry, I thought I wrote an answer. How about talking to your doctor about having a VNS put in? It's a stimulator that keeps a seizure from going full force. I have one and I still take meds, but they have been readjusted. I like my stimulator.

I am a care giver to my wife who has epilepsy, and she hates it when people say things like., "do you drink diet soda", or "You need to use your cell phone in 'hands-free mode' only", or they give other lifestyle changing advice. She feels that though they mean well, they are saying that these seizures are something she brought about by some bad habit or another and therefore she can change it; which is frustrating to her.
That said, I will echo what someone here said about trying a Keto-Genic diet. I don't know how or why it works, and it's no cure, but it does lessen the number of seizures. That and getting plenty of sleep. Even if it didn't or if her seizure numbers are just going down by themselves, I can say with confidence that she feels better on it. I have been thinking going on it myself

I was tested to see if I was a candidate for surgery as well, and I had the same answers. My seizures come from multiple areas so I wasn't a candidate and there was a risk of more memory problems. I have memory problems already and cannot imagine them getting more severe.
