If epilepsy was a person what would you say and do to him/her?
I already think of my epilepsy as a person. He is the drunken technician who rewired my brain so that it periodically shorts out. He is my invisible stalker with a TASER. He is 'Stromboli', the evil puppet-master from PINOCCHIO.
You were always a curious person to me and I never really understood why. You were very confusing to me in the beginning and for many many years I could never understand you. I asked many people to figure you out and no one could give me an answer. So my last option was to figure you out for myself because no one else could.
You were quite a challenge we had many bad and difficult times but eventually I was able to figure you out. It took decades to get what you are about and I'm not done with you yet because occasionally you throw me a curve ball and I have to figure out why you did something new and different to me, but I know you pretty well now. Finally enough to explain you to others so they can understand what you are about and you don't frighten them now like you used to.
You used to always beat me, but now I have the upper hand and I am controlling you now, not the other way around.
I would say, " thankyou for making me stronger. I appreciate all of the people you have helped me influence. Im upset that my family has to be scared when you come. But I am strong. And I will fight you. You will never control my positivity!"
Well Beverley, my friend, like Holly Riddick says introduce yourself because epilepsy, a man or woman will be with you for most of your life. Rather than run away best embrace and get to know your condition. It has a personality of its own and each one is different!
Like an angel when we have good days, weeks etc then like a devil when it won't abide by the rule book, so to speak! Life with epilepsy is never easy for anyone who has the condition or their careers and loved ones...
I'd tell him/her they're grounded and not allowed out to play until they behave.
