'Floaty' Feeling
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi - I've been getting strange 'floaty' sensations lately. They are hard to describe, but it's almost as though I'm slightly detached from my body (if that makes sense!!). Also, sometimes, I'll step onto a piece of solid ground and it will feel as though it has moved under me. Does anyone else have experience of such things? And if so, what's been said about it? Thanks.

I have had that happen, feeling like I was starting to become detached from my body, as well as my extremities feeling bigger and balloon-like, even though I know and can see that they aren't. I'm pretty sure it's a side effect of my medication (neurontin, didn't notice it when I was only on lamictal). It happened more when I started it and when I was on a higher dose, but it still happens once in awhile.

Not sure . Maybe it's a side effect from your meds.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - I'm on Tegretol and Zonegran. The Tegretol has been a constant since I developed the condition, although the dose has increased over time. Zonegran replaced Keppra (which really didn't agree with me) about a year ago.

What medications are you on because I have been on so many that caused me to feel like my head was. A balloon where my head was removed from my head and I could see myself

I know it's hard without driving . I miss that the most. Now I rely on my mum and dad or my sister during the day but my dad won't be driving much longer!Ive gone eight days now without a seizure where they've been about every four days- don't know if it's the calm before the storm or what?i definately know exactly what you mean about watching a programme- that's what I was like!
