Has Anyone Been For A 24 Hour Eeg Scan? Is It Better Then A Normal Eeg Scan?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I am going for a 24 hour scan next week and I want to see if it will show me blanking out and being restless as the normal eeg shows my seizures but not to an extend on how long and so forth. Is this scan worth my while?

I have. It's different for everyone. It can help your doctor understand your seizures better. Sometimes they don't get the results they are looking for. Then there is the three to seven day EEGs. Those for myself were better for me. It gives them time to reduce the meds down to a minimum . Plus the can keep an eye on me thru a video camera. And if I were to have a major seizure, they are great to be in my room right away.

Ive had some of those b4. I think that they r worth it because if i didnt have them, my doctor wouldnt have found my problem.

I have been for a 3-4 day eeg scan. I showed no signs of seizure activity while I was in the hospital sleep deprived and no meds for 72 hrs

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I do my monitoring at UCSF in San Francisco and they are awesome. You get a big screen TV in your room and room service that you can order off a big menu from 7am to 8pm. Plus there is free wifi so you can bring your tablet and watch all the Netflix you want!

I am doing the one where you stay over... I've heard it's horrible to sleep with all the wires but I just feel like with the eeg they quick to put my meds up without properly looking at the scan... I'm hoping that with this scan they pay more attention. They actually didn't want me to have it and I insisted, I'm pretty certain they are over dosing me!
