A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been through multiple surgeries. The first helped until I succumbed to multiple infections which made things worse
Currently I am on four medications. Fycompa was recently introduced it seems to actually help with my generalized (grand mal) seizures which is fantastic however I am experiencing a high amount of side effects. I can endure them however they are interfering with my quality of life almost as much as my seizures were without the medication. I've been on multiple other… read more

There are some meds made for you to work fine, you'll still have the seizures but not as bad, I just been emailing my Doc letting him know the meds I need him to call in. Some drugs in the past made me feel funny , gain weight, dizzy,& more the 5 meds I'm on not one does that, I had two seizures last week but I'm ok for now I've learned to just keep on going & not to let this take over my life, Instead I intend to win my life back w/or without the seizures, just say a prayer everynight by myself
and am strong!!!

Deborah, trying medical marijuana on desperate children has worked for some. The FDA does not accept medical marijuana plant, courtesy of major chemical corporations influence on politicians and research grants to large universities.
However, only the THC or fantasy inducing part of some hemp plants are unacceptable. The other 100 plus cannabinoids in the plants, some similar to what the human being's body produces, are of medicinal research. The CBD or cannabidiol, in oil form has been shown to help children with epilepsy and other continuous problems. Our commonwealth recently enacted a law to validate its use. All kinds of other laws are going to create problems in providing it similar to other states, like CO & CA. Research to further improve the medicinal value of these plants is of great value to those, especially children, of us with epilepsy. May God be with you and yours in this life.

I learned that a GP studies the brain and nervous system in medical school for about a month or two and that's about it. Then they forget what they've learned because that isn't their concern anymore. That is why they send you to a specialist for epilepsy because it is way over their head.

Well I didn't ever give up at all. No medications could control me at all so I took all the tests and had 2 brain surgeries. It took 30 years but I made it.
