Medical Marijuana And Epilepsy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi my name is Celina, I've been hearing from a lot of people that medical marijuana helps with seizures. I take lamotrigine, as well as keppra. But I wanted to look into more natural medicines that may help as well. Soo I wanted to know if anyone on here could give me some insight on medical marijuana. Pros, cons, anything I may need to know. Please and thank you.

Marijuana used to be legal until 1937 and if you don't believe me get a Sears & Roebuck Catalogue from say 1908 and you will find a page with a bottle of Cannibinol, which is basically Cannibus Sativa or pot. It was good for "Headache, neuritis. neuralgia, stomach ache and some other things I can't recall. We've all heard it fights or at least help glaucoma and with cancer stricken people who can't eat. I am all in favor of medical marijuana legality for sure. Personally? There was a period in time where I quit taking my meds(About two years)and smoked marijuana and had no seizures. Harry Anslinger aka Joe McCathy's drug dealer, about singlehandedly made marijuana illegal. And all I could find was he was the ONLY one. Supposedly from the little information I can find he wanted to take the emphasis off hard drugs so he chose weed and with letters to editors, articles, and finally the movie that scared people the most and had them vote for the Great Marijuana and Tea Act of 1937 because of their ignorance and that silly movie "Reefer Madness" it became illegal. I mean c'mon, the actors didn't even inhale! Were they even smoking pot?My information on this goes back to the 1970s(about 1977). I had been asked to speak about drugs in my home town at a PTA meeting and went into Pittsburgh to the college libraries. I went to Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne, Pitt to name a few and nothing. Returning to my record store I saw on the latest copy of High Times Magazine at least this answer I told you above. I felt like the world's richest king who traveled the world and went looking for the biggest jewel he could find only to come back highly disappointed until someone ask him "What is that in your forehead?" and sure enough there it was! With fifty million daily smokers I do know that the legalization could solve the national deficit. KDKA Am Radio/1020 yesterday said that they had a decrease in arrests of over 4,000 in the last year and Pittsburgh is going with the decriminalization. pot busts had decreased In Philadelphia the law was locally passed for a $25.00 fine for up to an ounce of smoke yet if you didn't leave the house over there you should be good to stay home and smoke. Also, as far as I know no one has ever died from smoking the illicit conduix! Only one man, and this too is out of High Times, died from smoking an ounce of pot in an hour. And he died of smoke inhalation. Nuff said. I beg to consider that I have not updated anything on the internet since my 1970's findings. If you want to look deeper go right ahead. Medicinally? How often has a doctor said "Let's TRY this!" We are the guinny pigs and let's face it, the AMA and doctors never called it medical perfection as it is still known as medical practice. ~ R.

I don't know how it works for some people but I will say I am an occasional smoker and I've had good results with it.Though it isn't medical I can still see the upside of it and my kids can too and they have watched me seiz for 27 years.Never am I encouraging it I'm simply telling my personal experience.
