Has Anyone Else Lost Massive Amounts Of Weight Due To Anti Convulsion Meds?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been on seven different medications to control my seizures. After having a status epilepticus seizure for half an hour in VEEG. My neurologist finally agreed that the meds were the problem. I have had every sever side effect regardless of which medication I am on. Has this happened to anyone else?

Last year I was on Zonegran, Carbatrol, Onfi, and Trileptol. At my neuro appointment I weighed 122lbs. The next one six months later I weighed 113lbs. Zonegran can cause a decrease in appetite so I just wasn't hungry. We lowered that and I'm back around 118lbs. It took forever for my doctor to believe it was the meds tho.

From the start of 2012 to now I have lost 50 lbs. I know have a form of vitamin deficiency anemia. My current weight is 85 pounds. My DR has taken me off all my meds and I currently use medicinal marijuana CBD to control seizures and THC to control nausea and appetite and insomnia.

I live in Canada so this works a bit different. I have a legal prescription and for the cost of my meds is around 900 dollars per month. I am currently working on getting insurance to cover it. They just denied me and I am going to fight it. I can't take regular medications. I have been on 8 different types with horrible side effects. It is the only thing that works and I should not have to pay for it.
