Doctors unsure a out original diagnosis of epilepsy that was handed to me 6 weeks after auto accident in 1990. Really? No one wants me off meds, because they stop all the seizures when I m taking them. Anyone else out there dealing with this? I dont want to stop the meds because they make life work, but I don't want the meds if I don't need them. Anyone want to chime in with their thoughts

The doctor and I together attempted a decrease, went from breakthrough myoclonus to full blown partial complex after some weeks of attempting this. Very upsetting. After the partial complex seizures I would sleep for hours and confused immediately after. Those really are the concerning ones to both him and I. So frustrating. His thought also was that during my myoclonus events there was to much movement to pick up the waves. We just can't be sure, so now limbo land. There was no partial complex activity while on monitor

No , not PME, simple partial seizure (myoclonus). Started after a severe brain injury. My seizures are 100 percent controlled. No complex partial since the last one 3 months ago. All meds are working well. I never had heard of PME. Interesting .

Nursemurph, do you have Progressive Myoclonus Epilepsy(PME) or some other type? The myoclonus has a multiple of types maybe even more complicated than seizures, although one PME is a seizure. The difference in each of us can make understanding all of this medically, very complicated.

Don't stop taking your meds but follow your doctor orders. Begin discussing with him either changing your meds or reducing them. But don't go cold-turkey on your meds!
