Does Anyone Else Have An Adult Child Who Has Epilepsy?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

If so, do they live with you? Work? Collect SSI? Sleep with someone? Monitored 24/7? My sons seizures are everyday. Trying to see what other parents out there do.

There's another wearable device coming out this Winter that detects sweat/stress that preludes a seizure. Right now the Epilepsy Foundation is accepting applications for it, and it's free to eligible individuals (although there is some cost with transmitting a warning alert to a loved one). Here's the link...http://bit.ly/efempatica

Thank you! Dennis we did try some of those devices, but unless you have shaking, they don't detect anything. Unfortunately we don't always have that.
Josh- our SSI is being decided and we have 6 months.

Hi Patti, I know many don't know about seizure service alert dogs. This may be very helpful for your family in full. These dogs have possible abilities to detect seizures 1hr.to 1.5 hrs. before seizure. It's not a guarantee it will but it may also decrease the number of seizures. I know this to be true I do have one, she doesn't warn me of seizure but has decreased my seizures 50%. The way they receive their Tital is at a service dog training center they have a volunteer that has a numerous of seizures who takes dog in for a while if the dog does a specific action over each seizure, he has he tells the camp, and it receives that, Tital. Then receives Tital service dog after 2yrs. of training. With training they can help in many other ways to. Such as, turn lights on or off, pay cashiers, pick things up, carry things. even go to bathroom on command. If you want to check this out I got mine at Canine Partners for Life in Cochranville PA, Phone (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators) email-k94life.org Wish you the best of luck!!! Also he still does have a friend. typing here right now!🐕‍🦺 😄💯
