Your memory loss is most likely from the seizures. If you have generalized epilepsy or temporal lobe epilepsy( especially on the right side). It affects the hippocampus resulting where memory is stored.

My memory went from great to terrible within a week or two after I had my first seizure.
False but kinda true Epilepsy does not. It scars your brain though. So if you have uncontrolled seizures for 30+ years yes you may have done some damage to your memory. But usually memory issues are caused by Anticonvulsives.
Before I had seizures I could read a story and know everything about it. However maybe a week after I started having seizures I no longer could remember a sentence. That’s how I’ve remained while still having seizures. I was even on the 504 Plan in school.
I think it's dif per person, you may ask your doc about the question here, I know my mem is not what it was considering the condition I have and what it's done, I am ok though taking that into consideration, I give my self a 1 on the 3 scale of being the best, but I am ok with that, my opinion
