Probably depends on the rules where you are but I know where I am assuming you get put as high priority you would only have to wait a max of two weeks.
For me it's taking 9 weeks...after several emergency hospitalizations I was recently diagnosed with Epilepsy. There was a neurologist that came to see me in the hospital and started me on Remeron 1000 ml, which has stopped one type of seizure. I'm still having some kind of seizure.
I hope all is well, I agree with everyone. When I first started with seizures, I was having at least 16 a day. The emergency room Dr.'s had me going to neurologist as soon as 2days being released. My seizures were so bad and so many back to back.
Neurology appointments are few and far between it seems for everyone. On average the appointment dates are 3-6 months away so it’s not unusual that you have to wait but very unfortunate when you’re seeking answers about your condition. Hang in there and wishing you seizure free days ☺️
Thank you for replying folks.
When I had my first seizure in Jan 2021, I woke up a couple of hours later in Resus. I was given a letter to hand into a+e reception who said i would be referred to a first seizure clinic. 2 months later, (march 2021) I had another seizure and a bleed on my brain. I woke up in a hospital ward the next day. It was December 2021 when I got an appointment with a neurologist who said it would be highly unlikely id have another one. In between these dates, I had no contact at all from neuro or the epilepsy nurse. No tests were carried out until July 2022 such as EEG and MRI, after having a third seizure in April 2022, again waking up after a few hours.
My question is should it have taken almost 12 months to attend a first seizure clinic?.
