Has Anyone Experienced Pregnancy With Epilepsy. Reducing Medication? What Are Your Experiences. Thanks
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Coming to the point in my life where I might want a family some day but don’t want to risk my health or child’s health due to the medication I am on or possible seizures while pregnant. My seizures are minor (I get Complex partial seizures) and remain fully conscious and alert and standing/sitting upright during a seizure. Any advice or experience would be appreciated thanks

Jewel, your seizures may get mellow or not change. I had 2 children. My first I complex partial but my husband noted it was severe one called 911 I was in 5 th month. The baby was fine. I was royally pooped. Delivery was an adventure. I had mini seizure at the beginning but great delivery.2 nd We were in the process moving to East Coast, No seizures had a midwife she was great! Almost had her in shower at hospital! She helped me after I got home dealing w/ baby and child. It really helped. Now my children are healthy. They grew up great and married. If you have a support system you can do it

I believe there is no safe medication to take during pregnancy. I have four beautiful, intelligent children! We are definitely Blessed, cuz throughout all of them I was taking Depokote. I hated it, but it was working.

With my 2 stayed on same medication! It depends on meds! It’s variable!

I was on phenobarbital. I actually had to in crease my dose because of increased body size, I got fat. My son was born no problems, but was addicted to the medication. Looking back I would have been mor proactive about having him go through a withdrawal plan.
