Is this real? How can I have “storms” (?) or irregular “spikes” (I think this is the word) and abnormal activity on 7 EEGs but no one around me ever sees anything unusual. I’m seriously questioning the legitimacy of my situation (diagnosis). Thanks!
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , The EEG can monitor the electrical part of your brain & what’s going on inside it, like stuff we can’t visually see. For example, in my last in hospital video EEG I stayed in the hospital for 3 to 5 days. My seizures aren’t as frequent or severe as some peoples & so I didn’t have any seizures while there. Most but not all of my seizures occur in my sleep & so while there at the hospital during that EEG, when I slept the EEG showed mostly Focalized seizure activity but some Generalized seizure activity. This information helps the doctors learn more about what type of seizures a person has & maybe what medication they might try them on. Just by looking at someone we can’t come up with some of the information that an EEG & other tests can. You might try going to www.epilepsy.com & it might have more information about EEGs. Hope this helps some. Your friend in Texas, Becky
