Can You Post A Video Of Your Seizure?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hi ya! I think we should all post a video (if you have one) so we can see what each seizure looks like. I’ll start 😊

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member you really don't understand. @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member please disregard Margery's comment. And yes, after some thought, I would actually like people to see my seizures, to see how violent they can be for me, my sudden loss of consciousness, the time it takes post-ictal phase to when I become lucid again. I would like to show people that life for people living with epilepsy is not easy.
Looking at Anella's videos and realising that this happens to her on a regular basis - and for some people on a daily basis clarifies the impact complex partial seizures have.
Most people, when they hear the word epilepsy, only think of grand mal - they don't know of the other different types of epilepsies so Anella's video's are a great idea.

I for the life of me can't understand why the s would bother anyone. Unfortunately I'm alone most of the time I have my seizures. My daughter did manage to get a short video some years ago but I lost it. Ones in public I'll never know. Wish my dog could operate a video camera lol. I've decided to move back to the state where most of my family is because this is really starting to take a toll on me as I get older. I want to see how the frick frack my tongue gets so dang jacked up.🧐🧐. Always on the same side. I want to know if f my nocturnal buddies are more often when I'm sleeping on my right, left or back. I wanna see dammit 🀣🀣🀣. I'm just told it looks scary and my family is always afraid I'm gonna die so a camera is the last thing anyone is usually trying to get

Personally when i see a video of a seizure, my thoughts go deeper than the initial view. That person is experiencing similar sensations as what i have had, yet different. So knowing the feeling i have had from a seizure, i really feel for them deeply. i am not repulsed by what i see, personally maybe someones reasons for being repulsed is because they may be lacking some empathy. However now i will turn this debate on its head because i believe im correct in saying Epilepsy can also negatively (in my view) effect empathy, thus they maybe more effected than they actually realise. SHARE AWARENESS OF YOUR CONDITION, IF SOMEONE DOESN'T LIKE IT. THEY DONT NEED TO LOG ON.

Ah you're not offending anyone at all @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - I've always been curious about others seizures, about auras, and in another case where one girl I talked to was seeing lights go by akin to lightening.
There's a story but personally I'd like to know the whole story, not just the part I play.
My neighbour saw me having one during the summer and he sat with me, talking and reassuring me until the ambulance came, people are kind - he said after that anyone would do it and thing is yes, anyone where I live would help me - but I've told them I've epilepsy and what to do.
Other people wouldn't know so informing them about the epilepsies is the only way.

This conversation and the differences of opinion that our community members have about posting a video of their seizure(s) is really one of the most dynamic and thought provoking conversations I've read here.
I think the conversation itself is worth consideration. Many of us seem to have profoundly emotional and intense convictions on this subject.
These videos would essentially not be "public" in the usual sense of the word. This site is intended to offer epileptics and their relatives access to what's posted. Certainly this community can be breeched by members of the public but I see that as a small percentage.
Posting your video is a choice. That others or we as individuals can "lose it" or "be disturbed/repulsed" or be "educated" is each viewers personal choice. Of course the fact that we all have seizures or love somone who does is important and it's primarily what makes this conversation so compelling!
Also, I can't help but think of all of the horrors that exist in our world that are at least equally repulsive. From the tragedy of peoples lost lives in environmental disasters, to graphic video games, to the horrors of war, to movies (entertainment) about monsters like Jeffrey Dahmer. There are lots of horrors we have minimal chance of ignoring.
In the end I think this dialogue is a learning experience regardless of our personal choice in the matter. If I've offended anyone here I apologize.
