I see a lot of people on the site , mainly from the US I think ,referring to epileptologists ( hope that's the correct spelling ) What's the difference between them & a neurologist/ neuropsychiatrist I've had Epilepsy for 43 years & have never heard of an epileptologist until I joined this site My neuro is a Dr ,not a Mr so he's not a surgeon - he's attached to the epilepsy centre here in South Wales
I'm being transferred to a bigger hospital and going to see a epilogist and going in to the Hospital for a week or two so they can tell me what Epilepsy I've got. It must be tonic clonic as I just go… read more
Has anyone ever tried Hemp Oil? My family has been pushing me for months to try, but I've been a bit hesitant. Is it worth the try? Has it worked for anyone? Does anyone have an opinion on this subject? I would like to hear them all.
Just like AED meds or any type of meds for that fact. People react differently to to MMJ or CBD , depending on their body chemistry. Some people act very well to it others may not.

What happens when you see an epileptologist for the time?
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. Check and see if your insurance may cover your state college hospital. Many colleges have epileptologists .
How do people feel about changing medication, I have been advised it would be beneficial for starting a family to come of carbamazepine tegretol, and increase my dose of levetiracetam to control my tonic clonic seizures, and take folic acid.
As I have taken carbamazepine for 15 years I am really anxious at the thought of changing medication due to my seizure been so well controlled with tegretol.
The thought of changing is making me not want to have kids, the thought of having uncontrolled… read more

My daughter has had absence seizures with her initial diagnosis. Her medication, Trileptal, has controlled her absence seizures for 3 years until now. Has anyone been diagnosed with TLE so you get focal, generalised TC seizures but later on had testing only to find out that some of the seizures you get are coming from other lobes in the brain not just the Temporal Lobe
This is basically what it looks like has happened to me.
Has anyone else had this or something similar happen? I'm just trying to figure out whether I would still be classed as having TLE after this or whether it's now something completely different.
To add some context to… read more
