Is It Possible To Have Seizures But Not Have Them Show Up On Eeg?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've had seizures for as long as I can remember. I have petit mall and occasionally grand mall. Every MRI and eeg I've done has been normal. I do have heart problem called long qt syndrome so I'm not sure if my seizures are heart related or not. I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor at an epilepsy clinic in Pittsburgh PA

It was a doctor office where I had it done. I'm going to go to a comprehensive epilepsy clinic for testing to see if the seizures are epilepsy or my long qt syndrome or both

They also have a home eeg that lasts for 36 hours when you try to show what happens when you are home and what can trigger your seizures in your normal environment still have to go off your medication but have a family member with you incase you have a emergency. I live pretty close to my hospital so that is what they plan to give me a house one.granted Medicaid will get off their buts and approve it

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I don’t know if the EEG you had done was a regular in office one or not but those sometimes come back normal. If you haven’t done an in hospital video EEG stay, where you’d stay in the hospital for several days & they take you off your meds & might sleep deprive you to try & see if you have a seizure. When I began seeing my current Neurologist in November 2019, she had me do a 5 day in hospital video EEG & though I never had any seizures, while I slept the EEG showed mostly Focalized seizure activity but some Generalized seizure activity. Most but not all of my seizures occur in my sleep. My seizures aren’t as frequent or severe as some peoples however I don’t have auras & so I don’t always know I’ve had a seizure unless I notice something is odd or someone witnesses it like my Mom or stepdad who I still live at home with. I’m 44 & have had seizures since the 2nd grade & I don’t think I had ever done an in hospital video EEG before that, just regular EEGs. Good luck & Welcome to the site. Your friend in Texas, Becky
