Hey community! Hope all is well for y'all. I came here to get your opinions. I was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Generalized Epilepsy, however, I've only had 3 seizures in my life. I had a febrile one at 5, one at 21, and one a couple weeks ago. The 2 seizures I had when I was older was just essentially body abuse. Lots of alcohol, use of drugs, sleep deprivation, etc. I have been on Keppra for 3 weeks now, but have been thinking lately about if I really want to do that. I feel like my… read more

AlexioGuadagno, ‘idiopathic’ does mean ‘of unknown origin’, but because you have had them AT ALL, and especially when you were an infant, suggests it is preexisting. Has your doctor done an EEG? Irregular brain activity is a symptom and, as you know, causes the nerves and muscles to go into spasms. But if it’s idiopathic, they can happen for various reasons.

That’s just from what I’ve learned and experienced. Although I have the preexisting condition, they can have various symptoms associated with it, including diet, too much fluid intake, or stress.
