Liquid Medications And Clean Dry Oral Syringes
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

They plan on moving me to an Assisted Living Facility. I am deeply concerned about keeping the Oral Syringes clean and dry. I do a wonderful job, and the Nurse who visits agrees.

Does anyone know how this is dealt with in these places?

Sue,
Because they think I need a nurse all the time I would not qualify. However, I ended up ordering 30 extra new ones. It was15, but they come in packages of 2. I also gave the Doctor the information to give to them. I do know I would no longer be handling my medications. I asked her, she said to ask them. My sister was the person they spoke to. I thought between my Conservator and Neurologist things would be fixed. My moving would take a while though to discard/sell/give away all the furniture that would not fit, and replacing what could. Meanwhile, they are working on finding me somewhere else. Maybe that room would be larger.

They thought I needed a full time nurse all the time. I do not know how they got that idea! Neither Dan or my Doctors said I would need that. From what I heard, it is a very nice place, the food is good. They also have a lot of activities. My Conservator is trying to find an alternative.

My sisters said they would make sure I had dimes and quarters to play Bingo. I brought the leftover Bingo Money (we stopped with Covid) so the money could be counted. There was $29!

Someone was going to send me a list of healthy snacks. I had been losing weight because we did not shop often, and I am not a good cook. We used to have various nuts, dried fruits, fresh fruits and other healthy things to eat.

Nancy, for some reason they think I need a full time nurse, so since they do not provide that, I will not be going there. My Health Insurance sends someone out once a year to get vital, go over meds etc. She asked the standard can I stand, cook, sleep, and do normal things. I was pleased I weighed 128 rather than 108. My driver did not take me shopping, though I had money. Wherever I end up at, Dorothy and I ate well. There were dried and regular fruits. We got healthy snacks such as nuts to eat. I like Edemame.

Please send me any suggestions you may have. Wherever I go, I would like to be able to snack. Thanks a lot.

I'm so sorry that you're having so much difficulty with finding the best place for you Peggy. You may have to compromise a bit.
As far as payment for you may need to do more research.

I was diagnosed at 7 because my parents knew I would not deliberately not pay attention in class. In my early 20s after a lot of tests they said I would be able to have a Temporal Lobectomy on the right side. The operation did not get rid of them all. I was a little depressed at first. Have been on various meds and dosages since. Having it helped a lot though because it stopped damage on the left side. That is where I remember, see, hear, move and many other important things.
I never asked where they got their degrees, but after the I was in Stamford. My Neurologist of 35-40 years just retired.
