Does Anyone Suffer With Hallucinations, Either Due To Their Medication Or As A Seizure / Aura?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Im really struggling at the moment. I see things that aren’t there, specifically at night, it scares the life out of me and I can’t sleep. Im on Lamotrigine and currently having my dose increased slowly (25mg every 2 weeks) I don’t know if it’s due to the medication or a type of seizure in itself. They don’t happen every night, but enough to be a worry. Impossible to get an appointment with my neurologist at the moment too!

Hey ! 😊 I Hope you’re doing good. I’m curious about what kind of hallucinations you have at night? I have hallucinations too in the dark but I’m not taking the epilepsy medication anymore…

Well Kirsty, I was just reading side effects of Lamictal (I'm on that too) and, even though it's rare, hallucinations are one of the side effects - same for the other AED I'm on so don't put it down to a seizure, it's possibly a side effect of the meds, see if they settle down. I've seen alot of posts here re hallucinations and most seem to be meds related.

Hey Kirsty! Are the hallucinations directly in front of you or in your peripheral vision (to the side)?
There could be some anxiety but see if maybe a bit of yoga or meditation could help, just with calming your mind, you'll be amazed how much it helps. 🙂
