A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I can’t drive with my epilepsy so I rely on my friends. When I feel disassociation and absence seizures coming on, I tell my friends that I would feel better if we leave. They usually try to push the night further so they can socialize more and when I bring it up again, they seem a little annoyed. Some try to find other solutions than what I want to do (go home and rest from exhaustion.) When I put my foot down and say that I really need to go home, my anxiety gets the best of me and I start to… read more

I can have a seizure at work where I lose total consciousness. About 5-10 minutes later I will find myself sitting in a chair and I get back up and finish the day. I won’t even know I had a seizure. That’s how all of my seizures are.

Even the big seizures where I lose consciousness. If I have one at work they will sit me down and about 5-10 minutes later I’m back up and working. I wouldn’t even know I had a seizure.

You mean an aura when it comes you have seconds to react , your just out of control thats when the seizure already started. Just go lay down and that's it , your friends will take your home after.

Why do you feel like you need to leave if you feel a seizure? You’re friends are right there to handle things. I’ve had seizures since I was a kid. Now I’m 41 and I’ve never got laughed at or teased after having a seizure. Everybody understands that it’s something we can’t control. So as long as you feel OK after the seizure you should stay and have fun.
