Acute Post-operative Frontal Epilepsy Surgery

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Hey everyone, I hope you guys aren't having seizures.
I have done frontal epilepsy surgery, the traditional type, resection surgery.
the surgery went nicely and the doctor resected almost everything in the damaged area, but after the surgery, I start to have acute post-operative seizures.
Moreover, It's been over 2 months, and still having seizures, I find that weird.
Has anyone done traditional surgery and been experiencing post-operative seizures????
Thank you,
Feras

My son had right frontal lob surgery 29 years ago at Yale and has been seizure free since then/ He is now having tests to see if they can lower his meds more as they already dropped the phenobarbital. He leads a perfectly normal life now as before he could not.; meds did not work., He is having all sorts of things checked and they are going to go very slow to do this

I had surgery to take my left temporal lobe off, at first after the operation there was very little difference in the fit's I was having, after 3 year's time my fit's was reducing from every other day to every two weeks, and after another 4 year's had gone by, I stopped having epileptic fit's all together. I was told that the brain can take up 10 year's to recover from such an operation in an adult.

I would suggest go with Laser ablation then traditional surgery.
Good luck!

I should have had the surgery when the covid started but I didn't have the surgery because I didn't get a visa since all the borders closed. However, the doctor intends to send me back for the surgery at the next appointment because he can't control it with medication. With this post I will be more prepared for the results I can get

In 1998 I had a Left Temporal Lobe brain surgery. Overall, it went well. My seizures frequency went from sever to mild and moderate seizures.
