What Causes Change In Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have always only had between 2-4 min seizures all my life but since July 1, 2022 they started lasted 20min. What could be causing that spike in the differences? I am really concerned but more concerned about having a seizure like that in public with my 4year old son with and no one else.

Hi Amanda. I can totally relate. My seizures have gone from Focal seizures that happened a 2-4 times a week to What seems to be Nocturnal Tonic Clonic. My Keppra has been increased to 3000 mgs. a day in addition to 400 mgs. of Topirimate. I'm scheduled for a 5 day stay in the hospital for a Prolonged EEG. Praying for you that surgery won't be necessary. ❤️

i spoke with my neurologist and he is putting me on a 3rd seizure medication and referring me to an epileptic ward and possiblity of brain surgery depending on the tests before hand. Nothing like a wake up call.

Excellent question. I have been diagnosed for two years and even though I have always had frequent nocturnal seizures, at least 2-4 times a week it has increased lately also. I have started having some in the afternoon/evening
also. What started for me as Focal seizures without going into too much detail here could very well be Grand Mal.
I totally relate with you on your concerns about having them in public. Losing consciousness even for a very short time is scary. I hope your Drs can help you out with the right meds and treatment right away. It seems I have a
"Complex" case but I've always been a troublemaker.lol
If I get any new information on what has caused mine to
change, I will share with you.

Many prayers
You have a lot of support here,
Lynn
