My Epilepsy Meds Don't Seem To Work
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi
My epilepsy medication doesn't seem to be working and when I change. Well things either stay the same or get worse. I suffered from tonic clonic seizures but got that controlled and they are fine om my current medication. However I am also suffering from partial complex seizures but can't get them controlled. My consultant wants me to stay on my current medication of 1200 Zebinix 600mg Epilim 3 times a day and 50mg morning and 75mg evening of Lamotrogine for the next couple of months and if… read more

What Type Of Seizure Is This?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I no longer have these, but it used to be a common occurrence. I know there are many, many types of seizures but have never found one that fits what used to happen to me. Can anyone tell me what this is??

* It lasted an entire day. From the time I woke up until I went to bed at night. Usually about 13-16 hours. Was always fine the next day
* I was always conscious.
* Never extra tired.
* No twitches. No pain or even physical discomfort of any kind.
* Most people didn't know anything… read more

I wonder if it might be medication related? You don’t mention whether or not you are on any medication, so a review could be needed.

Hi guys,
I'm not on any medication at the moment for my tonic clonic and grand mal seizures.
I'm wanting to speak to my Dr about maybe starting Topomax.
Has anyone been on it? Any side effects? Does it help stop seizures?
Did you take topomax in conjunction with other seizure meds or on it's own?
Thanks heaps.

I Was on Topomax and it had some side effects that were tolerable … Stay strong in time you might be thankful 🙏 🙏

These are the Focal type seizures

Good Morning! I Hope Everyone Is Alright. Does Anyone Know The Difference Between Idiopathic, Symptomatic And Cryptogenic Epilepsy Is?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My epilepsy used to be symptomatic (although the docs could not find anything that caused it), then it became cryptogenic - for a long time, it's currently either symptomatic or idiopathic depending on the doctor.
I have multi-focal seizures that can become generalized with a few other unpleasant things to add to the mixture. My epilepsy started when I was 13 for no particular reason and as I'm now 40, it's unlikely to go away.

Has Anyone Done Any Reserch Into What Demage Is Causing There Condition
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I thought after having this for 25 years and not really looking that much into it for so long I thought while I've got so much time and since it's the reason I'm not working I should probably look into it.

So after digging through a lot of old paperwork and files this is what I found out:

In basic terms, there’s Mesial temporal sclerosis damage to the right side Hippocampus there's also damage to the right dorsal thalamus. There is also white matter damage (ex-vacuo dilatation of the… read more
