What Would Be A Good Career For Someone Who Developed Epilepsy Through Menegitis?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Growing up everyone comes across the same questions (What do you want to be when you grow up?, What do you want to do in life....) So what would your answer be in the case of someone who suffered from Menegitis & Epilepsy
Ever since I was a kid I know there were wild dreams like being a princess, or some super hero, but I'm grown now. Graduated H.S in 2015, tried college but didn't go so well so I ditched for over 3 years. I sit down every single day wondering what I want to study that I can do… read more

This is how I make decisions like that. First, do I picture myself doing this for 30 years and still being happy about that, or does it give me bit of a pause or a pit in my stomach. That is how I chose my husband BTW.

Second, I look at the skills that are hard for me with Epilepsy, and stay away from those jobs. For example, I have a lot of brain fog, memory, and trouble with writing composition. I can't really have a regular office job now b/c it's just too frustrating. I think I could work in a store (garden, cheese shop, etc.). What skills don't you have and what skills do you need to have in order to do a certain job.

Usually I tell people to friend me on FB and then Messenger me. Would that work?

You mentioned people suggesting a job as a counselor. That is psychology. I majored in anthropology in the past, went to grad school, and noticed how similar psychology is to anthropology. Psychology: A person helps a another person by talking to them etc, anthropology: You learn about different kinds of people, how they live, what they do, the music they listen to etc. Anthropology you study the same things how different people live there lives, ex Native Americans are different people but live in the U.S. also. I am thinking about going back to school and getting a Bachelors Degree in psychology now.
