Does Anyone Else Struggle Feeling Motivated To Do Stuff?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I really struggle if I've been set tasks to do such as tidy up around the house and kinda hit lazy mode and not motivated to do anything? Does anyone else feel like this? Just I forget the tasks and I'll start a day doing stuff the next day I won't bother just motivation to do stuff just goes?? Please help

Open in that lazy mode one time or another and sometimes believe it or not it’s a side effect of your medication so check the labels of your medication and if you got that big piece of paperwork when you receive the medication in that Google the medication and the side effects of it see if it increases your risk of tiredness is like that and see what else you could be taking besides that or ask your doctor if they can give you a vitamin B6 and B 12 shot that might help you with the tardiness of your doctor for that your primary care position especially do you know where to take a B6 and B 12 and vitamin C and see if that helps you increase your stamina go walk for a little while walk walk a distance and come home walk a little bit more you need to build your stamina that might be the problem that you don’t have the stamina because you’ve been inside so much so I need to go back outside with fresh air and an area where you don’t mean I have to wear your mask as much some even consider wearing those face shields I think they’re more important and better for people you’re not breathing the same air over and over that’s my own opinion.

Sometimes sleep is the only escape. No matter how hard i try to occupy myself i can’t escape the “weird” feeling. Im sorry your dad is doing that. Maybe he just doesn’t want you to “give up” or something. Sleep is definitely the most important thing.

Yesss i get distracted then lose motivation too. I try to make a list on my whiteboard of tasks. Then i’ll get a small seizure while doing it and just lay in bed the rest of the day lol. I try to start working right when I wake up so I don’t give myself time for distraction

Does this happen with the things you want to do as well. Like, play guitar or video games or whatever you’re into. Is this all the way around or just chores type stuff. It could be your meds, but more so and it’s for you to figure out. Seems like the psychological part of having epilepsy is creeping in. You gotta be on top of that. I recall, sure I now had epilepsy. But I wasn’t dead, I stopped golfing, fishing, going to band practice, taking care of my property. It wasn’t the epilepsy. It was depression, I personally didn’t give the huge change in my way of life, the respect that I needed to. My friends were telling me and they understood that I was now having seizures. But they also saw what I didn’t. That was that I had kinda just given up, I’m not sure that is the right thing to say. You notice that you’re not yourself, so now figuring out why is the key. Be serious about your mental health. I wasn’t born with epilepsy and I am a extrovert. So when I shut down people noticed. You notice, so think about the mental side of this, cause it’s for real. Good luck

Before epilepsy i was always on the go.ive also got tourettes which can make you very antsy..always on the go ...always getting told to slow down or stop ..then had first seizure at 40 ...all that stopped completely .now it takes a fair bit to motivate me. im always putting things off ..cant be stuffed ..or think about what ive got to do then panic over not doing it ...then still not do it..i dont think theres an easy answer to it ..🤔
