Fear Your Next Seizure
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

If you have seizures on a regular basis do you fear the next one. I make notes on my calender when I have bad seizures and they are regular or after so many days. So when I look at the calender I can almost predict when I am due/going to have the next seizure. It frightens me and my wife.

Worrying about when You will have another seizure adds anxiety and stress. Those emotional feelings are two triggers that may cause a person to have more seizures. I have lost a good job because I was having seizures. Everybody that has epilepsy needs to find there own way to deal with it. I don’t keep track of every seizure I have. It is just part of life.

I''m more afraid of what damage is occurring to my brain and what i may lose because of it. I hate that i have the seizures but unfortunatly it just is something my body does so accept that they come & try to do what i can to heal. I track the seizures in my calendar too but only just recently found a pattern. Hope you feel better!

What is triggered by them . Not enough sleep, drinking coffee or a lot of caffeine, not drinking water being dehydrated, some women it is their period, what ever it is see if you can fix or get rid of it,

Yes you fear them , having seizures is bad it’s hard on your mind and body, and relationships, still haven’t found a lady to stay with me, when I was going through gran mal seizures, had a lot of girlfriends they would witness one then leave, stay tough and remember the lord.

A couple of times I have gone to the bathroom on a morning when I wake up and forgotten to put it on. I had seizure in the bathroom last Monday and so pleased I had it on as I was stuck on the floor as I can’t get onto my knees and god knows how long I would have been there. I was freezing as some silly person had opened the bathroom window ( that would be me ) so the floor would dry quicker, the first thing I said to the lady who came was “ please close the window “ it’s definitely a good thing to have especially if you can’t get up without help xxx
