Can Electrolytes (such As What You Drink In Powerade), Decrease Simple Partial Seizures?e)
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

For the last 30 years I've had an average of 1 - 2 simple partial seizures per month. The meds I've taken has caused my kidneys to form stones...3 trips to the ER and one surgery. My last kidney stone episode was one year ago. My doc told me it was imperative for me to STOP drinking pop and to start drinking alternatives including Powerade, milk. Lots of water. I started drinking Powerade and found I love the stuff...I drink it all the time! The crazy thing about all this is that I'm… read more

Yeah. The reason is due to the loss of minerals and electrolytes.
Gatorade replaces them.
It becomes necessary for me in the warm months.
I feel run down and exhausted and but Don’t know why. No reason.
I take a fast dissolving pill that athletes use, called “Salt Sticks”. Literally Gatorade in a pill form.
Much love-Jeff

depends on what ya have. i have food seizures so i need to avoid certain foods and drinks. in pop it is probably the overload of sugars and syrup and a little bit of carbonated water. powerade is flavored water with vitamins (electrolytes/sodium/potassium and other vitamins and minerals). your body is loveing the flavored water and the more you drink water, the more your body will love you back.

If I’m working out in the yard and I get to hot I have a sports drink like Powerade or Hydralyte is good that can be purchased from the pharmacy in liquid, powder or ice blocks (icy poles for my overseas friends). The ice blocks are my favourite especially on those hot 🥵 humid days we get here in Brisbane summers. 🙂

Powerade has a lot artificial sweetners that can cause issues with your kidneys if drink them often. How often depends on your systems reaction to the sweetners that are used. I was told have a banana every day or take potassium pills. I only have gatorade and just once a month. Otherwise it is just water.

I been told that that soda is not good for you. Especially certain kinds because of the caffeine, carbonation and couple other things. Just that with people like me that have tried Powerade at times and just can't stand it compare to coke and coffee since a child, it may be 1 reason I don't like Powerade.
