Seizure “auras”
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve read a lot about some people having auras before an epileptic seizure. I know there have been times where I’ve been physically ill or have literally felt like I seeing a big red sign flashing in my brain warning me that a seizure was coming. I wonder if other people have ever experienced that big red sign sensation before a seizure hit.

I have the auros alot and I thought it was my migraines but reading all these I don't think it was my migraines for all this time (since i was 9 years old I'm now 38)
I hid it for years from my friends and loved ones until I couldn't any longer. Only in the last 4 months have I taken meds to control my siezures.
My auras I have like ghostly blur in my vision and then my vision goes blurry I carnt see properly to my eyes flicker from side to side while I'm awake it's a crazy experience. I have also like stone lights across my eyes which make me feel sick 🤢. I have worn shades many of times as I find it helps slightly and I'm not straining my head looking at things. Hope this helps xxz

For me I smell things burning. Like Brimstone. Matches maybe. If it is going to be an exceptionally large Episode. Otherwise I have Rollercoaster stomach I call it.

I am someone that will go through an aura prior to the seizure taking place. Usually it's deja vu but there have been times when I will experience a smell that I cannot define.

I feel like I do have Auras, but the dejavu I experience tends to occur days before I have a seizure. I am so weirded out by this that I keep trying to analyze those thoughts. I'm then afraid that's another trigger.
Does anybody else have similar experiences??
