My son is 19, just recently been diagnosed with generalised epilepsy after 1 1hr EEG. His first tonic clonic was on Dec 28, second one 2 days ago. They did his bloods in hospital and said his epilim level was quite low. Could that be why he had the tc? Will my son ever lead a happy life. As his mother im really struggling.

Like what other people have said I'm sure Your son will live a normal happy life. My guess is he will be able to go to college if he wants to. It may be hard, but people with epilepsy are smart enough to find a solution. One person that has epilepsy today: The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court-a Harvard Law School Graduate. Look up the list of other people that have/had epilepsy-that is proof people with epilepsy can be and are successful.

I’m am certain your son will lead a very happy life. Epilepsy is just one part of his life, he has so much to look forward to. Sometimes there will be struggles with meds, etc but overall he can lead a very fulfilling life. Relationships, career, children...the list goes on. Have faith, everything will work out🙂 I think you’re feeling like every other mom of people with epilepsy, I’m almost 50 and my mom still worries about me! Take care

Yes . When our med levels are low , our seizures Will start acting up more .

Living a good happy life can take awhile . He has to learn to cope with everything that comes with Epilepsy. Figuring out that all of this , is added to his facts of life .

If you can find a Epilepsy org. in your country that has young adults or know others with Epilepsy , so he can have a support group, can help . He will learn and understand it better . He will also know how others Emotions are and how they react with their Epilepsy. Maybe even refer him to this site. This can possibly help him learn to cope.

There will always be hope. Some days are rougher than others. Medications might have to changed up to find the right combination. Im going in 23 and and my mom asks if im alright all the time. It took my doctor four tries to get my medication combination right. Some days will be harder than others, but there will always be hope
