Birth Control & Epilepsy

Has anyone found combination birth control pills (with higher estrogen) to be beneficial? I find it to be helpful but wondering if anyone else has? I know it’s not the norm

Im actually coming off my anticonvulsants because they don’t work for me and I’ve tried the progesterone only pills and they caused me to have a tonic clonic seizure when I typically wouldn’t, so I’ve had more success with the combo pills (with higher estrogen) which I know is different than most people.

Talk to your neurologist about drug interactions. The effectiveness of certain anti-epileptics is decreased and can decrease the effectiveness of the pill (if you're taking it as a contraceptive). I have however also heard that a progesterone only pill can be successful. The Mirena IUD slowly releases progesterone over time. I am going to get one at the end of the month. I'll keep you posted!

Are you saying progesterone only pills are more helpful than the combo pill?
