Has Anyone Experienced Susceptibility To Summer Heat, Humidity And Direct Sunlight Increasing With Every Year?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Five years ago, I do not even remember having headaches regularly from the heat and direct sunlight. Two years ago, I could go on long walks in the summertime and the only effect is headaches. Last summer, the hot and humid day triggered a seizure. This year, I am having many auras (simple partial seizures) even when I limit time in sunlight (but not escaping humidity in a room with AC). And it is difficult to know when I am having a complex partial seizure (without a witness) because I am… read more

The heat never affected me before. It just started this year. Anything can can change as you get older.

I love the heat. It has no effect on my epilepsy. For myself , the seizures are unpredictable. It can hit me any where at any time, whether I’m at home, out with friends, in public, and ect. It doesn’t matter what season it is.

Here in Central Texas the heat and humidity really trigger me more and more every summer. It has been 100-105 every day for over a week. I don't have central AC just a window unit in a bedroom. The heat gives me headaches, the bright glaring sun causes dizziness and auras, etc. I try to stay in the breeze on the porch, stay very hydrated, 1.5 - 2 gallons of water. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke can happen very suddenly here.
Be very careful everyone, this week most of the US has been in high 90s to over 100.

Yes, I'm increasingly feeling more sensitive to episodes (auras and seizures) in the bright sunlight :-/ I've been in Colorado for 2.5 years and I'm still not used to how much closer to the sun we are/feel :-/
