If you try to get on SSI or SSDI, you make sure that to you have a lot of documentation. If you have more than 1 Dr., make sure you get copies from their files too . .

Raylene, There are two-2-types of Disability that Social Security issues they are: SSI and SSDI . Be certain that you get the type of Disability that you are qualified to receive. SSI only gives about $700 per month in Maryland plus granting your Medicaid Benefits. SSDI gives a much larger cash allowance and they also grant your Medicaid benefits. The Present Administration and Congress may cut some of the benefits and make it even harder to get them.
It took me the Initial Application and Four Appeals before I was finally approved for SSI and Medicaid; even the MD-state appointed attorney had never had such a hassle with any of his clients getting SSI-and he had almost forty-40- years as a lawyer. Then in February, 2014 the Social Security people cut off my Medicaid and monthly checks-they claimed that it was ONLY PENDING THE SALE OF THE TWO PROPERTIES THAT MY FATHER HAD LEFT ME IN HIS WILL. I sold both properties at a significant loss; nevertheless Social Security did not restore my Social Security and Medicaid benefits. Plus Social Security refused to restore my benefits and Medicaid.

Randy, Glad to hear that people care. I wound up getting a neurologist in Virginia and was referred to him by the Express Scripts Customer Service representative. Luckily he is a very open minded man and my husband and him shared their common experience in the Navy.
Guess that those neurologists in the DC Metro Area get a lot of pressure-some of them tell the State where to go and it isn't pretty. My current neurologist was interested in seeing that the Tricare Prime Health Insurance people be forced to provide my Brand Name Anti Seizure medications-despite their desire to try and force me into taking Generic which I am allergic to-and they have records that prove it.
Although I just started with my current neurologist in early March, 2017 I've already seen more of his office than those doctors who were connected with the military. The primary care doctor at the Air Force Base has her contract expire in August, 2017 and I'll be glad to see her go-my husband agrees with me that both the epilepsy specialist and my primary care doctor have been useless.
Sad is the day when you have to wait over a month to see your primary care doctor. You could be dead while you waited to get to see her. Once the secretary even realized that it would be a good idea to give me an appointment with someone else-that primary care doctor was there the day that I went for my appointment-NOT AN OUNCH OF SHAME IN THAT DAME.
Records can turn into a fun deal. When one of my neurologist's retired I had a copy of all of my records for the next doctor that I got. Once I managed to misplace the records when I answered the phone and it took me a week to find it.

Sorry to hear about your struggles Linda. That horrible to hear that the specialists and Dr.s were your your files in your state. My Epilepsy clinic is very good at not loosing my files. In fact every time I visit my
Epileptologist alway carries my file folder in when I visit during my apts.. Erase that. It's a huge Binder, with my whole history being there. It's as thick as a big novel. Maybe bigger. And the length and width of the binder.
