An EEG isn't so bad, I find it quite relaxing as you sit quiet and do things like opening and closing your eyes. The only irritating thing is it is hard to get the glue out of your hair but the nurses gave me a tip of lathering your hair (dry) in conditioner and leaving it in for about half an hour before washing. The thing to look forward to is what information that the investigation will reveal. This could lead to a diagnosis or better treatment being offered to you.

How did your eeg go?Have you asked for the results yet?I feel bad for you. Your side effects so common almost required I tried so many meds and groups of meds I've experienced. each of these side effects. In fact I wondered if the meds werent worse than the sz.Nausea tli I thought"If only I could throw up."When they offered brain surgery and all of the dangerous results(blind, paralized, talk, feel) All I could say is "I dI on't care I cant swallow one more pill.",Those side effects were too much.I finally tried Lamotrigine. It not olny gave control but had didnt have side effects for me.Everybody is different tho i'v seen many positive comments abt lamictal. Not haviing those horrible side effects almost all the other meds had made it special to me. .

The outpatient ones aren't too bad...what is described above. I had a couple. The continuous ones that you go inpatient for 5 days, however, are not fun! I was itchy, not washing my hair for 5 days got on my nerves, and a few other things!
I hope it goes smoothly for you. If it's the outpatient one, you should do ok.

A regular EEG will go from 1-4 hours . They will have lay in a dark room and be watched from a video camera πŸŽ₯. They will start talking to you thru a speaker in the room and probably start with visual tests. They will possibly ask you to open and close your eyes . Then they will use a strobe light to test how sensitive your are to light. Then they will have you sleep for a certain period of time. Until they come and wake you up. They will schedule another appt. and when you come back they'll go over the EEG results with you.
