I had the epilepsy surgery in 1995. A long time ago now. Mine was unsuccessful. At that time I was having uncontrollable seizures on medication. My seizures stopped about 10 years ago. But I
was never sorry I went through that, even as painful as it was. I would do it again given my situation at that time.
Please take care

I had "epilepsy surgery" at the Mayo Clinic known by many as "brain surgery" for my quite bad seizures. It looks like things are working out

I had the VNS implanted in Dec. 1999 and recently had it removed due to it not being effective now. I recently just had the Neuropace RNS stimulator implanted. I'm hoping this will help with my Complex partial seizure control some.

Yes I have . I use to have severe seizures when I was younger. Around my early 20's , my Epileptologist told me about the brain surgery and wanted to know if I wanted go for it. At the time I was living with my mom and she was with me at my appt. She was very nervous . I already knew my answer. I wanted to do it.

Today I'm not seizure free , but the frequency of my seizures went from severe to moderate and mild seizures. For me it was worth it.

Yes, I have had 3. I am on my 2nd VNS & on 8/9/10 I had my right temporal lobe removed. I am now 5 yrs seizure free.

I have had 11 brain surgeries in my life. 1 for my seizures. 10 for Hydrocephalus. My neurosurgeon has told me the safest type of brain surgery is seizure surgery.
