Why Not Valium?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have never misused any of my medicine and was on diazepam(valium) prescribed by my family doctor but was taken off by my neurologist. He said that if they needed to treat me in the emergency room that is what they would use. I understand that but I only used it if I felt like one was coming on so I don't see a big problem here. What happens when my heart gives out due to a grandmal seizure?

You just reminded me that my doc said to take one aspirin a day. Thank god, I am not in the environment I was in before. 😊

I believe it was the 88mg. The baby aspirin. Just to make the blood thinner. So, you don't have any clots.

He just said he thinks it would be worse on me if I had to go to the emergency room. And I am going to go to a different neurologist as soon as I can get in.

I would see a different doc. If you can't see an epileptologist then see a different neurologist. Did he give you any reason for that? How often do you get the aura's?
