I usually have 2-3 grand mal seizures each year. I've had 8 now, in just the first 5 months of my pregnancy. Given my experience over the last 21 years of my life since I was diagnosed, I think I'll have a seizure during labour (fatigue & stress). Its a huge concern of mine and I think a planned C-section is a better option.
Just for everyone, I don't know if it helps but my seizures went from one every 6 years to 3 or 4 in a year.this happened when I started menopause so indeed I think that hormones play a big role
I had my sons very young 18 I was pregnant and had our oldest 8.lb 9oz ...ouch !! I did have seizures in my pregnancy and did a natural delivery. Second son was just under 8 lbs ??? You should do just fine. I'll be 62 this year and this goes back to 18 years of age. 44 year's ago thing's have changed so much.
My seizure activity increased while I was pregnant. My ob/gyn and neuro went to same synagogue and worked together on this (although, a few HIPPA laws were probably broken). They didn't want me going past 39 wks. They induced everything and when she still didn't come by 10 pm- c section
I had two very healthy daughters by natural birth. ( they are 37 and 35 years old). Then I was having about 20 seizures monthly some grand mal. Everything was okay except not allowed to breast feed. Best thing I did was go to relaxation classes during my pregnancy as it helped and I had no pain killers.
Good luck
I were in a coma for four days from having multiple seizures when I were 31 weeks and my body naturally when in to labour on its own so when I woke up they gave me a epidural and some stuff to make my contractions come faster and then with 1 hour she were crowning so I had no choice but to have a natural birth but I don't even remember any pain but she were only 3lbs and it were scary but a lot healthier for you and your baby and hope things go well.
