Are there any surgeries out there For someone who takes depakote for seizures and otherwise without the seizure medicine would have one pretty much every day more than once a day also lack of sleep seems to cause my Seizures
Yes, brain surgery is more invasive, but my understanding is that depending on your seizures' focal point, it can have higher success rates than the VNS implant. Either one is a big undertaking! Make sure your neurologist is also an epileptologist. If s/he isn't, get a referral to one who can help you determine if you're a good surgery candidate. If you are, the epileptologist needs to refer you to a good neuro-surgeon who can perform the surgery. I had a temporal lobectomy in 2014. Though it caused a major setback, I've been seizure-free for 15 months after living with refractory seizures for decades.
Idk jury still out. I feel like I've had enough surgeries for the whole world. Seeing as the first started when I was just two mo. old. Let you when this Corona Virus dies down a bit. Haven't been to Birmingham yet.
So are you going to go for it SkeeterDavis? I had the brain surgery done in 98 . It didn’t make me seizure , but it did reduce my seizure frequency.
RandySherman yes Andrea would be right, I'm hydrophobic also, & my Dr. thinks mine are coming from the frontal lobe also, & thinks I qualify for the same surgery.
Andrea your thinking of the brain surgery
