I am testing all week and have to be on sleep deprivation 6pm to 6am. Got to the hospital today at 8am. Wife awake. Will they wake you up or a beeper go off? if you fall asleep. I know they will be watching.
The surgeries that I've had and side effects I've had over the years. It has screwed up my sleep patterns. I'm always sleeping it seems like.
For me, the key is to do something that gets my undivided attention. I have a tendency to lose myself in things that I enjoy doing. Before I know it, it's the end of the day and I forgot to cook dinner, so I'm cooking it at 10PM. Do something that keeps your mind busy for a long period of time.
Usually, they will check you periodically to make sure you stay awake, and wake you if you fall asleep.
I have insomnia with my Epilepsy. I’m always up through the early mornings. I sometimes am awake through noon time . Then there are rare times when I’ll be up for close to 24hrs .
The sleep deprivation is needed for testing to be able to trace seizure activity during one. No worry cause in hospital for safety. Will have to be on bed all time;bring something to ward off the boredom. In office EEGs can't show how brain waves change unless seizure occurs.
