Years ago only a few AEDs available so had trouble with my own pregnancies. Child died & when delivered had deformities of body & brain. Read of one that only caused cosmetic ones with no affect on brain. After 2 misses asked Dr to put me on this . Had a few severe seizures that didn't hurt child. Was born with just a cleft lip & pallet which was repaired at Boston Children's Hospital center for this. Met many who had no idea why or on meds for diff probs. Now some of the safest meds for pregnancies are AEDS Consult Dr of seizures during to ease mind bout any harm to the child. No worry at all bout any meds hurting child either.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member yes thank you so much i’ll see if a doc can maybe prescribe it right after birth, how often do you regularly have seizures?

By the way, just like to say stay positive, with my first two children, I was seizure free for 5 years! They came back after birthing my third baby..

Hello, for some reason I am seizure free during pregnancy, but when I give birth I have cluster seizures,, with 2 of my kids I had 3 or more big ones... but then it calms down and my normal epilepsy comes back

I have a theory that when we're pregnant, there's a big amount of progesterone, that helps prevents the seizures... then when u give birth .. that progesterone goes very low.. so after this child I am now taking progesterone to see if I feel better, with my doctors permission..

I've only had one seizure, during pregnancy and I was literally like 1 week !, so it could have been a sudden hormone change that triggered it... I got my first seizures when I hit puberty and my periods came so everyone is different...
Hope I've helped..
