I have autoimmune diseases, so I wondered about it.
I've never heard of autoimmune epilepsy but I do know about autoimmune diseases that cause epilepsy. And in that case it depends on the disorder and how it affects the eeg. Every seizure we see a… read more
Hi there,
There’s a big debate in an epilepsy support group on FB about these terms: seizure disorder, Epilepsy and neurological disorder. Is epilepsy a symptom of a neurological disorder? What do you think the definitions of these are and why? I do know that different countries have different definitions. I have my own idea but I’m curious to see what everyone else thinks.🙂
It’s a sad place when people are not willing to understand and believe whatever they want covid is real not fake x x
What causes epilepsy
Almost anything that’s the hard part like car accidents or a bad birth
When I tell someone new that I have epilepsy and very unreliable memory recall (as a result of the cumulative side effects of all of the anticonvulsants and some other meds), I try to educate them about not only the range of seizures that I have but also how to react and what to do (and not to do) when witnessing someone having a seizure.
A lot of times when I do tell someone I will get either “you don’t look like you do” or “do you have it all the time?”
I certainly did not know this until a few minutes ago --when I was researching what international medical committee decides why the label of "mental illness" is used rather than "mental disability" for those that are not labeled as mental disorders (and I did not even know that the mental disorders were not listed as a sub-group of the overall group known as mental illness rather than being in a separate category.

Sorry another foody question. Are certain spices good or bad for you? I enjoy Indian and Chinese food but don't want to over do it.
I think that is on the individual, I am on a norm diet, I don't know if any food that is a prob, if a seizure does come about which I don't wish ,but if does I'm not going to stop my daily lifestyle… read more
Apparently I've read through medical online case studies that covid 19 can cause Ataxia, movement disorders, and Epilepsy after infection .I wanted to add links here but it wouldn't work I find this an interesting thing to know about as I'm wondering could covid 19 infection be the reason for my symptoms the variables in diagnosis are a lot but still it's a possibility.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I don't blame you especially if you have been seizure free for that long .
Does epilepsy cause mental and mood disorders, or does anti seizure medicine cause the disorders. Please elaborate?
Depends on your body make up
Hi guys,
I'm not on any medication at the moment for my tonic clonic and grand mal seizures.
I'm wanting to speak to my Dr about maybe starting Topomax.
Has anyone been on it? Any side effects? Does it help stop seizures?
Did you take topomax in conjunction with other seizure meds or on it's own?
Thanks heaps.
I Was on Topomax and it had some side effects that were tolerable … Stay strong in time you might be thankful 🙏 🙏
Has anyone experienced swelling in their hands and feet when on oxcarbazepine? I've started to self medicate with anti histamines and it's getting better. I'm seeing my epilepsy nurse tomo so hoping for some answers
