A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was told I have Grand Mal and other Seizure Disorders one of them called Pseudoseizures . Anyone else ever hear of this? I'm told it's hard to diagnose and often gone undiagnosed or is missed. My family and I was just grasping the Grand Mal Seizures now there's more to try and sort thru?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Does Anyone Know How To Find Out What Might Have Triggered A Seizure Who Had. If You Only Had One In Over 40+ Years?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

The only thing that I haven't had to deal with until maybe mid 2000's I found out I have type 2 diabetes. That and the medication made me get dehydrated quite often. I have always had dealt with stress and Sleep deprived because I was hyperactive and insomnia. So I don't think that did it. How Do I Remember Things From Class?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I'm going back to college. I start on August 11th. Here's my deal though. I've been in and out of college since I graduated in 2009 because of Epilepsy problems. I've gone to college three other times already. Also for three different things. Should have stayed with the same track I know but I'm indecisive and I get bored easily. First time I was at the community college, I was there for my AA but I had just found out that I had Epilepsy. My GPA started dropping near the end of a year and a… read more

Is It Possible To Have Seizures But Not Have Them Show Up On Eeg?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've had seizures for as long as I can remember. I have petit mall and occasionally grand mall. Every MRI and eeg I've done has been normal. I do have heart problem called long qt syndrome so I'm not sure if my seizures are heart related or not. I'm waiting to hear back from my doctor at an epilepsy clinic in Pittsburgh PA

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

It was a doctor office where I had it done. I'm going to go to a comprehensive epilepsy clinic for testing to see if the seizures are epilepsy or my long qt syndrome or both

Epilepsy And Pregnancy
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello everyone
This question is mainly for the women who have carried children, but if you can answer this question in anyway please feel free!
My wife and I are talking now about having children, however here in Ontario the epilepsy world is a little behind and maybe outdated.

So my question to all the women is, what medication(s) where some of you on to make carrying your child/children safe? Because my doctors keep telling me it’s not safe and never going to be possible
So I’m… read more

I'm not preggers nor want to be until i am married but i do have concerns. Let's say i wanted to have a baby, how would it affect me and my child? I take Trileptal 2 times a day (4 pills total). Would i have to just adopt, or could my chikd have birth complications? Or birth defects or would i be putting my life at risk or will we both be ok? Talk to your doctors (neuro and obgyn)! Some meds cause no problems and some can cause serious ones. I used to work in healthcare, both in a doctor's office and then as a pharmacy tech, and I'm not… read more

I am going for a 24 hour scan next week and I want to see if it will show me blanking out and being restless as the normal eeg shows my seizures but not to an extend on how long and so forth. Is this scan worth my while?
