When You Are Taking The Medication
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

When you are asked to take medication in the Morning and Night when Label on the box, would you follow it to 12 Hours between taking it, or what would you think of Various time in the Morning and A Various time at Night? If you didn't have a set 12 Hour Period would you think people would have more Seizures, Because I use to work early at 6am up to Last February, but would take my Medication at 9pm for Night , so this would be over a 12 Hour Period.

So Is Epilepsy A Disability Or Not?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

This is a general question of public opinion. I myself always assumed it was, but apparently it's not at least according to Social Security in Indiana that is. I finally decided to apply b/c someone else I know receives disability do to having seizures which started after an aneurysm they also happen to work as well. So I decided to give it a try and was denied b/c epilepsy was not a disability that would stop me from working. So opinions do you agree or disagree on Epilepsy being a disability?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I am on disability for seizures. I can’t work because I’ve had them since I was a kid so they’re preexisting. We’re not able to do several things normal people can.

Has Anyone Been On Vimpat? If So How Long And Was It Succesful?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve been on Carbotral since i was 8, and trokendi since i was 14-15. I was hospitalized in the past 2 weeks to study my absent seizures off all medications, because i normally have auras only when medicated, until the padt year, ive recently began having absents again also. The doctors tested one medication that was unsuccessful while i was hospitalized, before testing Vimpat over a 24 hour period, and then i was released. I’ve been out for nearly 2 weeks now, and i haven’t had any seizures… read more

Sleep Requirements
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello! I could not find any answers to this topic. Do you all find that you generally need more sleep than others? I know everyone is different, but I find that I usually need 8+hours of sleep daily. I am very diligent about getting enough sleep as that is one of my main triggers. On the weekends, I can easily sleep for 9+ hours. Is anyone else like this?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I would say yes, I’m the same way in that I need about 8 hours on a regular schedule in order to function normally, and without it I’ve been more prone to seizures. But I purposely plan and keep to… read more

Trileptal And Lamictal
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My almost 18 year old son has had seizures since he was 6 years old. He’s been taking Trileptal and Lamictal. He has had two grand mal seizures in the last month. His doctor slowly increased his lamicatal to 175 mg twice a day. He has been throwing up every day after his morning dose. It happens two hours after taking his medication and last for two or more hours. His neurologist doesn’t think it’s from his medication. She said from his blood work it shows he metabolises his medication… read more
