How Do You Handle The Huge Life Changes After Being Diagnosed As An Adult?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

For those diagnosed later in life, how long did it take to overcome the sudden changes in your life? I was a total extrovert before seizures, always on the go. I never want to leave the house no because I'm scared of having a seizure in public or around friends most of which don't even know that I have them yet. The sudden change of not being able to drive has been very hard. It's been 13 months since I was diagnosed & I still feel completely isolated and cut off from the world outside my house… read more

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was told I have Grand Mal and other Seizure Disorders one of them called Pseudoseizures . Anyone else ever hear of this? I'm told it's hard to diagnose and often gone undiagnosed or is missed. My family and I was just grasping the Grand Mal Seizures now there's more to try and sort thru?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I agree especially with MarKC - thanks for reminding me of ' non epileptic seizures' I've also heard of them being called ' pseudoseizures' too

How Do I Remember Things From Class?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I'm going back to college. I start on August 11th. Here's my deal though. I've been in and out of college since I graduated in 2009 because of Epilepsy problems. I've gone to college three other times already. Also for three different things. Should have stayed with the same track I know but I'm indecisive and I get bored easily. First time I was at the community college, I was there for my AA but I had just found out that I had Epilepsy. My GPA started dropping near the end of a year and a… read more

Status Epilepticus
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy last year. She's been having seizures every 1-2 months since then. But when she has a seizure, it never stops on its own. Every time, she has to go to the hospital and receive diazepam injection. Is there any other person with similar conditions? Will it get worse with time? I'm so worried.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I've never dealt with a kid with epilepsy just myself. See if her doctor would give you a concentrate (liquid) RX of diazapam or lorazapam and educate you on the dosages for her seizures. It can go… read more
