I have heard in the past from several friends who have tried many others including surgery, implants or non-medication alternative methods. However, I think it would help if those of you who have to share your experience with those are now at the point where they have been told that medication will never allow them to reach a long-term seizure free state.

Especially for my UK friends but all contributions welcome. How often found you have bloods taken & what do the GPs ask for?. Liver function ? ,Levels of AEDs, ? I've never had mine taken regularly The GP thinks the Epilepsy Unit takes bloods( it doesn't , purely a consultation) & the Unit thinks the GP does .I think I may have to ask for them myself
My GP does it once a year!
Me and my partner are wanting to try for a baby but im a bit apprehensive as I don't want my baby to have epilepsy. I know it can be genetic but I am the first person (we know about) to have epilepsy in my family and doctors don't know how I got it. I would just like to know the odds because I dont think I would be able to watch my baby have sezuires seeing how scared I make my mum when it happens to me.

I am having my VNS "installed", lol, on Monday. I am nervous. Does it hurt when you're recovering? I'll be put out for it, but I'm nervous about the pain when I wake up. Does it feel weird having this thing in your body? I'm not normally a worrier and I'm pretty tough. When delivering my babies, the doctor asked if I had nerve endings because I was smiling and laughing through the contractions and pushing, lol (without an epidural, I might add, proudly, haha). But I'm worried about the… read more

I am 100% positive that hormones are playing a huge factor in both the frequency and intensity of my seizures but I’m not sure where to start to address it. If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know!
I had more seizures in my 40's than any other time except my teens. The seizures I had in peri menapause were also more severe, causing a loss of memory and balance. It took weeks to get over each… read more
