Is It Possible For Seizures To Suddenly Change After Almost 50 Years?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

In December 2021, I was driving along and suddenly felt, the best I can put it, a bit light headed which lasted only 2 or 3 seconds. The next thing I recall seeing was my vehicle about 1/4 mile down the road where I last recall being in contact with a light pole in a local restaurant parking lot with the air bag deployed and police & paramedics around me
Now in 49 years I have NEVER had a seizure in which I did not have a lengthy aura of the same pattern. Nothing changed in my life that I… read more

Can Convulsive Seizures Cause Long Term Skeletal Damage?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Summer of 2002 is when I had my worst seizure that led to my epilepsy diagnosis and becoming medicated long term. It was a fully convulsive seizure almost for a full 20+ minutes. Can a seizure of that magnitude cause long term bone structure damage? Now that I'm in my mid-50's a lot of shoulder and neck issues that just seem to linger and sometimes not much relief for. I still get random muscle jerking of my legs, mostly the right leg, and sometimes more rarely even a bit with the torso.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

A seizure that lasts that long is what happened to me 2 in 1 and a half hour. They can be dangerous .

What Are The Chances Of You Child Having Epilepsy If You Have It?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Me and my partner are wanting to try for a baby but im a bit apprehensive as I don't want my baby to have epilepsy. I know it can be genetic but I am the first person (we know about) to have epilepsy in my family and doctors don't know how I got it. I would just like to know the odds because I dont think I would be able to watch my baby have sezuires seeing how scared I make my mum when it happens to me.

Does Shingles Vaccination Cause Seizures.
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My wife had a Zostavax vaccine to prevent shingles and 14 hours later had grand mal seizure that lasted 20 minutes. The T8 joint in her back collapsed during the seizure. Never had a seizure before this, has had 3 since. We believe the Zostavax bought this on, has this happened to anybody else.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member
