Has Anyone Tried VNS?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son can no longer take Depakote as it’s destroying his liver. So his Dr is recommending VNS (after trying 3 diff meds for his grand mal seizures but they have all failed) but I’m hearing many conflicting stories about its effectiveness. Any advice? Thanks!

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I will pray for him. Poor guy. If I had it to do over again I would do it. My VNS has helped me a lot. I haven't had a grand-mal in years and I feel that it is partly due to it.

It like im unconousious because i dont know where i am for a few secoud. Im gone completely blind so i dont know what in doing until i have to shout for one of my parents. I dont always shout i do tend to go through it on my own.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I had only 5-8 second events while asleep the time before this EEG Cap. They did not tell me how long it was yet, however. Will try to figure out a combination of drugs and dosages to stop them all.

Lamictal Titration And Fatigue
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi All
Has anyone been on Keppra and had Lamictal added? My son was fine up until last week he was at 75mg twice a day of lamictal and seemed to get a bit tired the second week after each dose increase but last week he was very tired and ended up missing school. He doesn’t seem to be getting any better his energy levels are so low. As of today he is at 100mg twice a day plus the usual 1500mg of Keppra twice a day. When I spoke to the epilepsy nurse at the start she said that Lamictal usually… read more

Has Anyone Heard Of Pseudo Seizures?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was told I have Grand Mal and other Seizure Disorders one of them called Pseudoseizures . Anyone else ever hear of this? I'm told it's hard to diagnose and often gone undiagnosed or is missed. My family and I was just grasping the Grand Mal Seizures now there's more to try and sort thru?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

I agree especially with MarKC - thanks for reminding me of ' non epileptic seizures' I've also heard of them being called ' pseudoseizures' too
