I had an 72 hour EEG study done. Current neurologist said test shows my seizures are indeed stress induced. But my fMRI showed brain changes

I keep going back and forth on the same question. I was under a lot of stress two years ago that included getting getting harassed and where I worked, we all wore winter coats and had personal heaters under the desks even in the summer. I had two months of pneumonia and also broke a vertebra and was getting tested for lung cancer. The first doctor I saw said that is was the pneumonia that triggered the seizures to start. When my insurance changed, I had to change doctors and I was assigned to go to MRIs, EEGs, and spinal tap for other tests because I kept testing positive for GAD65. They told me I had auto-immune epilepsy. I was referred to another neurologist via my chiropractor who they recommend clients too and he disagreed. A year later into the diagnoses was the first time I even heard of stress based seizures. I asked about that at my last appointment but they are telling me the test results and brain waves they are capturing matches epilepsy. So now I'm being tested on this treatment that has never been FDA approved. I keep thinking if I would have quit earlier during the harassment so get away from the stress and before the pneumonia, would I even be in this position today. I only stayed at that job since I was told to stay so I qualified for unemployment since new jobs are harder and harder to find. I wish I would have quit.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I don't think the brain changes would mean that much unless it is something they need to monitor. As for the "stress induced" This is just the main trigger of your seizures. I'm not to sure how they would pick that up but it looks like they have and added it to the report.

I'm not sure why but that's the issue when you have different drs do reports on the same thing. They will all have different ways of interpreting things but really when you compare the two, they are the same. I had the same thing happen when I had Mri's done.

Anyone with Epilepsy can get triggered seizure from stress. Then there are other seizure triggers , like…….
1 anxiety, depression, and other negative emotions.
2. Lack of sleep
3. Alcohol beverages
4. Not staying on medication schedule
And a few other basic Seizure Triggers .

The biggest question is , whether or not you had EEG test done. That shows proof, that you have Epilepsy. There is NES ( Non Epileptic Seizures ) , if your seizures don’t show on the EEG monitor.
