Does anyone else cough up dark bloody mucous after having a seizure? If so, do you know why this happens? The neurologist wasn't familiar with this phenomenon but my dad's PCP said it could be from stomach acid coming up the esophagus during the seizure. After seizing, I can hear stuff rattling around in his throat/chest; he has a period of unconscious gasping/labored breathing after a seizure.
Hi Karen607, I have never heard of this. I would make an appointment with my PCP if this happened to me. Sounds like something unrelated to seizures but I could of course be wrong. Please have this checked out. Maybe he/she will order a chest x-ray.
Not for seizures but for gallbladder. I had vomited blood for years. If it is red, it's fresh from the esophagus. If it is brown, it's digested. If it is thick and brown, definitely need to see a doctor, maybe even ER. I went to ER when I vomited thick brown blood, and I knew it was my gallbladder but also knew it was not normal. I had my gallbladder removed in an emergency surgery. That was a few months ago. A gastroenterologist is the best to see for those things. They can check with endoscopy or colonoscopy.
