I got a VNS in 2017 and whenever i run the magnet across it it chokes me and hurts my chin and the left side of my head. I've told my Dr about it and he just turned it down. I've avoided using it because it scares me when it chokes me! It still goes off every 5 minutes and that doesn't hurt since my Dr lowered it's power but it still hurts with the magnet.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, are you still having cluster seizures.. if so , talk to your Neurologist/Epileptologist , about Recovery meds, like Ativan and Lorazepam.
In the ambulance I kept losing consciousness afterwards and every time I regained consciousness I was screaming please help me. Is this normal?

Hi is it okay to take vitamin D with your meds one a day thanks for advice
I always run it past your physician. That being said. Individuals with epilepsy should get their vitamin D level checked (as your neurologist how often for you).
Based on that, it may prompt a… read more
I take Vimpat, lamotrigine, and phenytoin twice daily and have a VNS implant. My epilepsy is pretty much under control except for every few weeks, about 20 minutes after I take my meds (morning OR evening) I get dizzy and literally can’t walk for a couple hours. And I don’t mean steady myself on a wall, I mean I will be fine, then I’m on the floor! I can usually crawl back to bed, but sometimes it’s so bad, I just lay on the floor of my bedroom after I crawl there! I HAVE told my neuro, they’ve… read more

How do you know? because when I get asked that question I get confused because if it means it completely stops my seizures and movement disorder then the answer would be no but most of the time it keeps them at bay but not entirely .
Are medications meant to stop seizures completely or does it take time to work and how can you know for sure if your meds are helping.

I'm afraid of not getting enough exercise, having fatigue makes you have less exercise.
Hi, MarileeGramith, next time I will ask, it's a good idea, I did consider to try and get some line dancing, thanks for your support, Take care.
I ask this because the site owners and techs are not able to provide an additional search option to search for New Members. And there have been too many New Members over the years who have come once or a few times and gotten frustrated and left because they do not get the true benefit of being embraced by a large enough team to not only make them feel welcome but also be able to provide answers and often personal experience regarding any related to seizures (types, symptoms, auras, side… read more

What does everyone mean by what " triggers" you this may be a dumb question but can Episodes/ fits be triggered by things other then like getting scared or stuff like that ?
I feel like when people are talking to me about random things I sometimes get this feeling like a random word almost sets something off?
A trigger is something that will start a seizure. A simple example is not taking medication-that is a trigger. People take medication to stop seizures, so if a person does not take their medication… read more
