New Parents With Epilepsy And Going Back To Work?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello. Just wondering if there are any new parents out there with epilepsy and how they managed when going back to work? I'm already worrying about it and I still have 6 months left before I go back. My manager isn't the best and working shifts will kill me off as I'm exhausted already! Also tips to combat the exhaustion would be much appreciated. TIA xx

I would suggest talking to your employer if you have a good relationship with them. At least someone there needs to know what to do just in case. I say this because my employer found out when I had one at work. Someone knew something was wrong when I couldn't remember how to answer the phones. They ended up calling my supervisor to meet me at the hospital who was taking a vacation day. So that's why I say just in case. I also suggest just telling what is needed and no more the less the better and one person everybody doesn't need to know. Remember it's all about your comfort level I was just telling you my experience.

Depending on the people there , it’s possible they may criticize, discriminate, and harassment. I hope to God you don’t go through this. In the name of fear this could happen. A lot of us have been fired from seizuring at work.

I don’t know if there are any forms of Disability Rights over there , but over here in the United States we do have it a disability rights act. But employers still get away with terminating people from work, if they seizure. It very upsetting, and disappointing that employers get away with this.
